Liu Dong, General Manager of China Steel South Africa, led a delegation from Samancor Chrome of South Africa to visit and inspect Hunan Chuangyuan.

On June 3, 2023, Liu Dong, General Manager of China Steel South Africa Co., Ltd., and Head of Procurement and Logistics at Samancor Group; Bertus Brink, General Manager of Eastern Mines; Barend Steyn, Mining Technology Manager; and others visited Hunan Chuangyuan for an exchange. Chairman Wang Yi met with the delegation at the Ningxiang base. Marketing Director Liu Yongsheng, Assistant Vice President of Marketing Wu Zhihu, and Chief Engineer Yan Wugang also attended the meeting.
Mr. Liu Dong introduced the layout of China Steel's overseas resources in chromite resources and the South African chromium industry market. He said that China Steel South Africa Co., Ltd. currently has more than 12,000 employees More than 8,000 of whom are engaged in mining operations. There is an urgent need to improve equipment levels and mine automation, otherwise it will be difficult to face future mining competition. Therefore, they hope to select suitable high-end mining equipment suppliers and smart mining suppliers domestically. Samancor Chrome, a subsidiary of China Steel South Africa Co., Ltd., has a complete industrial chain covering mining, beneficiation, and smelting. It has two mining areas, east and west, with an annual output of 5 million tons of chromite ore and 2.4 million tons of ferrochrome, currently ranking first in the world in terms of production capacity.
Chairman Wang Yi gave the delegation a detailed introduction to Chuangyuan High-tech's product research and development and market applications in the fields of raise boring machines, intelligent mining equipment, and smart mines. In response to the delegation's comments “The eastern ore body is underground mining, with a gently inclined thin ore body, many interlayers, limited stope height, and large safety height restrictions, making mining operations extremely difficult. Currently, only the simplest hand-held drilling machines can be used for drilling operations, with more than 600 mining drilling personnel per shift, resulting in very low efficiency,” the company specifically introduced the “National 14th Five-Year Plan for Green Mining Technology and Equipment for Thin Ore Bodies” project and the implemented unmanned mine system solution for Zhejiang Jinshi Resources.
During the exchange, both sides discussed in depth several technical issues, including the matching of Hunan Chuangyuan's intelligent mining equipment with Samancor Chrome's mining stopes and mining processes. Chairman Wang Yi stated that Chuangyuan High-tech has strong equipment R&D and manufacturing capabilities and can fully meet the needs of customized development for China Steel South Africa Samancor Chrome. He said that Chuangyuan High-tech is willing to work with China Steel South Africa Co., Ltd. to improve the mining equipment and process levels of Samancor Chrome in South Africa.
During the visit, General Manager Liu Dong and the Samancor Chrome delegation also visited the Chuangyuan High-tech manufacturing plant and learned about Chuangyuan High-tech's flagship products: large-diameter raise boring machines, cutting slot raise boring machines, micro-intelligent rock drilling jumbos, and intelligent medium and deep-hole drilling machines.
