Prevention of Bore Rod Breakage in Raise Boring Machines: A Few Tips

Those familiar with mining know that drilling is a very complex and arduous task.

Due to the varying nature and structure of underground rocks, the difficulty of drilling varies, and sometimes damage to construction tools occurs, such as the breakage of bore rods in raise boring machines. To ensure normal construction, preventive measures can be taken.

Methods for Preventing Bore Rod Breakage:

1. Reverse Circulation Drilling Rig Construction: When reverse circulation drilling rigs are manufactured by Chuangyuan Gaoxin, strict quality control is implemented for the raw materials, undergoing multiple processes to ensure that all indicators exceed normal levels. 2. 3. In terms of flushing fluid selection, those with good lubrication properties should be chosen to reduce vibrations caused by high rotational speeds on the drill rods. Different flushing fluid ratios should be selected for different formations. Strengthen the maintenance and inspection of reverse circulation drilling rig drill rods. During idle periods, anti-corrosion treatment should be applied to the drill rods, with anti-rust oil applied to the threads and thread protectors used to prevent rust. When using reverse circulation drilling rigs, strict operating procedures should be established and strictly followed, and relevant training should be provided to drilling workers.

 

  

 

During reverse circulation drilling rig operations, it is worth noting that drill rod breakage can also occur during pressure reduction drilling. This situation generally has two signs.

One is that the breakage occurs at the neutral point. In this case, the drill bit of the reverse circulation drilling rig often exhibits an upward jumping phenomenon, and the vertical shaft and drill rod usually rise simultaneously, while the bottom hole pressure indicator shows a pressure decrease.

Another is that the drill rod breakage occurs below the neutral point. In this case, the drill rod suddenly drops, while the bottom hole pressure indicator shows an increase in pressure.
