  In today's rapidly developing technology, intelligence has become a key driving force for transformation in various industries, and the mining industry is no exception.   At the beginning of the new year, let's review the achievements of 2024 and look forward to 2025, embracing new challenges.

01. Xizang Julong Copper Mine

Project Overview

  Xizang Julong Copper Industry owns the mine with the largest copper metal reserves in Asia. However, the mine site is at an altitude of 5300-5500 meters, making it one of the highest super-large mines in the world. The oxygen content and air pressure are only about half that of the plains, with large diurnal temperature differences, often in high-cold extreme environments below -20℃. This poses extremely high requirements for intelligent transformation. In 2024, Hunan Chuangyuan successfully won the bid and undertook the remote intelligent transformation of two down-the-hole drills and the construction of a remote intelligent control system for Xizang Julong Mining.

Project Progress

  Currently, the Xizang Julong project has completed the debugging of local and remote autonomous drilling operations, realizing full electric control of the drill, as well as posture sensing, precise drill hole positioning, automatic leveling, automatic drilling, remote walking, automatic cable winding, automatic dust removal, and safety diagnosis and warning functions. The project is currently undergoing final performance testing.

02. Panzhihua Iron and Steel Group Julang Iron Mine Phase II

Project Overview

  In October 2021, Hunan Chuangyuan, together with China Mobile, Huawei, and other companies, assisted Panzhihua Iron and Steel Group in the construction of the Julang Iron Mine "5G Remote Mining" project. The project progressed rapidly, and after the completion of Phase I, remote intelligent operation was successfully achieved, allowing operators to remotely operate the entire production process of "drilling-loading-transportation" from the comfort of their offices. In October 2023, the construction of Phase II was launched, with Hunan Chuangyuan undertaking the intelligent transformation of five pieces of equipment and the construction of a remote control system. This project was selected as a "5G+ Smart Mining" application case by the GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communications Association) and was reported by CCTV.

Project Progress

Currently, the Panzhihua Iron and Steel Group Julang Iron Mine Phase II project has completed the intelligent transformation of five pieces of equipment and the debugging of the remote control function of two pieces of equipment. After completion, the project will realize full electric control and sensing of the drill, drill hole positioning, automatic rod loading and unloading and drilling, automatic hole depth measurement, drill rig posture monitoring, and perforation map operations, constructing scenarios such as remote control of one to two and simulation modeling.

Among them, after the intelligent upgrade and transformation of the down-the-hole drill, the work efficiency has been significantly improved. In particular, the "one-button positioning" function greatly simplifies the adjustment steps, shortens the positioning time, and increases the positioning accuracy.

03. Chongqing Iron and Steel Xichang Mining

Project Overview

  Chongqing Iron and Steel Xichang Mine is a large state-owned mining enterprise and a major domestic supplier and leading enterprise of vanadium-titanium and titanium concentrate. This intelligent transformation project mainly involves the remote autonomous control transformation of the mine's existing traditional down-the-hole drills. After the transformation, the drill is required to have the ability to remotely and autonomously complete all operations, meeting the relevant national, local, and industry standards and regulations.

Project Progress

  Currently, Xichang Mining has successfully achieved fully automated operations for hole searching, obstacle avoidance, and drilling, and has successfully applied it to actual production, achieving normalized operation. Staff can operate from the remote control center, achieving intrinsic safety and reducing work intensity by more than 50%.

04. Boai Jinyu Cement

Project Overview

The Boai Jinyu Cement project mainly focuses on upgrading and transforming the control system of the company's existing traditional open-pit down-the-hole drills to achieve remote intelligent operation of the down-the-hole drills.

Project Progress

The Boai Jinyu Cement project has completed the intelligent upgrade and transformation. After the transformation, human-machine separation can be achieved through remote control, transferring operators from the mine site to the remote control center, improving the comfort and health of the working environment for operators; drill information can be uploaded synchronously to the intelligent control center. After the transformation, city leaders visited the intelligent achievements of the project and watched operators remotely control equipment in the control room to perform a series of actions such as hole searching, positioning, and drilling.

05. Hunan Pengyuan Hongda Mining

Project Overview

  In 2023, Hunan Chuangyuan and Pengyuan Hongda Mining responded to the national smart mining policy, signing a cooperation agreement to upgrade industrial network infrastructure, scientifically deploy intelligent sensing terminals, realize network access of equipment, and build a digital mine integrated platform for data information collection and transmission in all time domains and processes. After the completion of the digital platform construction, it meets national and local management requirements and seamlessly connects with the national safety supervision platform. Hunan Chuangyuan promises to provide the most economical comprehensive control scheme for the mine based on the actual production needs of the mine, and to promote mine safety production to the intelligent stage.

Project Progress

The Pengyuan Hongda project has realized the basic functions of industrial ring network, personnel positioning, safety detection, and digital mine integrated control platform, and has entered the trial operation stage. After the project is fully put into production, the use of automated equipment and intelligent management will reduce the cost of equipment maintenance and replacement, significantly reducing labor costs and energy costs, achieving cost savings; using intelligent sensors and monitoring systems to monitor the mine environment in real time, predict and prevent potential hazards, effectively reducing the probability of accidents, and ensuring operational safety; at the same time, through data linkage of multiple independently operating systems, improving personnel management efficiency, providing comprehensive and accurate data support for scientific decision-making, and improving the quality of management decision-making.
